It is said that the spanish club Barcelona FC is interested in the services of the 24 years old midfielder. The Dutch midfielder refused a contract extension and the break-up is imminent. Afellay stated:
"It's a fantastic club - a club everyone knows that plays very attractive football and is the greatest around - but I insist that I don't know anything yet about my future. All I can do is continue training as usual and playing to the best of my ability for my team, which is still PSV. For the club, it may be better to do it in January because they could raise money. Then again, it could be better to wait until June because our aim is to win the Eredivisie and the team would play in the Champions League next year, which is a great reward and gives you more money.
It's now time to develop myself further. PSV is my home, but I'm ready to take the next step in my career."
The other two teams that are also interested in Afellay are Internationale and Atletico Madrid. Juventus may also have an eye on the attacking midfielder.
